First documented historical references to apple cultivation in the area.

1900

The Frigola family plants the first apple trees on the Mas Saulot estate, replacing other crops like rice.

1963

Foundation of the Girona Fruits Cooperative with 72 other producing families from the province.

Introduction of new apple varieties such as Golden, Spur, Royal Rels…

Generation after generation, the Mooma family has cultivated the land with dedication and love for apples, keeping alive an agricultural legacy that today continues to transform into products and experiences with their own identity.
1968

First initiatives to promote the projection of local apples with the creation of the Associació Qualitat de Poma de Girona, Catalonia Qualitat, Mas Badia, Cofrugi…

1971

The progressive abandonment of milk production encourages the expansion of apple tree cultivation.

Mooma's origins are deeply rooted in the land and the family tradition of cultivating apple trees in Empordà, a history that has evolved into a unique project of cider, gastronomy, and experiences.
1982

Planting of 2 hectares of Granny Smith at Mas Saulot.

1992

Production of Early Red One begins in Fontclara and Fontanilles.

1993

Pioneers in the use of black netting on apple trees to protect them from hail, the intense local wind, and excessive solar radiation on the fruit.

1998

Incorporation of the 20 Ha La Resclosa estate bordering the Ter river. In 8 years, it transitions from peach cultivation to apple trees.

2000

Beginning of family trips to apple producing regions such as Argentina, Chile, South Africa, New Zealand, France, South Tyrol in Italy…

2001

Start of visits to national and international cider producers: Asturias, Basque Country, Brittany, Normandy, Somerset, Herefordshire, New Zealand, etc.

Introduction of core aspects such as agroecology techniques and the application of social responsibility policies aimed at workers.

2015

Successful production of the first cider at Mas Saulot using Granny Smith and following American cider techniques.

The Mooma brand is born, the result of the fusion of “Montgrí” and “poma” (apple).

Mooma apple juice is made with apples from Empordà, preserving all the freshness, aroma, and natural flavor of freshly picked fruit.

Monovarietal apple juices begin to be bottled to respect the ripening period of each variety and to preserve their natural freshness.

Mooma's apple trees grow in the heart of Empordà, cultivated with care and tradition to give life to ciders and products made with our own local fruit.

First guided tours of Mooma’s fields to promote more responsible consumption and to share farming techniques and work with visitors.

First international awards and distinctions for our cider at SISGA, Sagardo Fórum, Nordic Ciders in Latvia, Girona Excel.lent, etc.

Definitive boost to cider production and new varieties. With novelties such as ancestral method, premium aged in oak, pear, ice, apple vermouth, Apple Brandy…

2020

Beginning of seasonal crops like calçots following the km 0 philosophy. Or new crops like mustard to naturally regenerate the land that has had apple trees for decades.

Inauguration of the second restaurant, Mooma Cerdanya, at the airfield between Alp and Das.

Production of red fruits begins at Finca de la Resclosa, and Mooma’s offer expands with the appearance of new products such as juices, jams, teas, gins…
