To be out of touch with the reality of the countryside is to be out of touch with reality.
Farming and livestock activities surround us, shaping our landscape, filling our fridges, bringing the flavors of our culture to our plates, and providing a present and a future for many families…
But even so, for many years, the distance separating the world of farming from a large part of the population has continued to grow, both physically and emotionally.
Reversing this anomaly is key for us, and we pour our heart and soul into making it happen. We want you to walk through the fields, enjoy their scents and colors, know the origin of what you eat, and understand all the effort and dedication behind that fruit or vegetable. We want to open the doors to a world where you have so much to discover. For us, this is also what doing things right is all about.
We can’t think of a better prelude for those visiting us at Mooma Palau Sator than taking a guided tour of our fields. It’s a way to start enjoying the flavors of our dishes long before sitting down at the table.
Learn about the annual cycle of apple trees, how to tell different varieties apart, and explore seasonal crops at their peak. Discover the secrets of pollination with plant varieties that encourage it, the different tasks involved in caring for and promoting the harvest, the optimal time for picking, and the techniques and tools used to ensure success. It’s the perfect combination of learning and a relaxed, entertaining activity that sparks both interest and appetite.
A visit without limits or secrets. That’s why it doesn’t end in the fields. We also invite you to discover how we make our juices and ciders just a few meters from the apple orchards, in our cellar and production plant. There, you’ll see just how far we’re willing to go to keep things simple and natural.
Historically, Empordà hasn’t been a land of cider like other places in the world such as France, the UK, Italy, Scandinavia, the USA… or even closer areas of the Iberian Peninsula like Asturias or the Basque Country.
That’s why Mooma’s commitment to making a craft cider with its own signature style is particularly surprising. Even more so when you consider it has been achieved using varieties that have been grown here for years, without falling into the temptation of replacing them with those from other regions.
Today, our ciders are already a common choice for many of our customers, both in our restaurants and through supermarkets and distribution centers. And their recognition keeps growing thanks to the awards they continue to win in international competitions.
All of this makes more and more people want to learn about their characteristics and qualities. And what better way to dive into this world than by enjoying a tasting of the different ciders we produce, led by one of our experts?
At Mooma, we work in our fields all year round for one specific moment that proves all the effort was worth it: the harvest, the time to pick the fruits of our labor.
And we want to share this unique and extraordinary moment with our visitors through a family activity that is sure to be unforgettable, especially for the little ones. For a few hours, we invite you to be a farmer: grab your basket, join us in the fields, walk through the crops at their peak of ripeness, and pick the most intensely colored and flavored fruits yourself so you can enjoy them directly. No intermediaries. Straight from the field to your table.
Discover with us that there’s only one thing better than enjoying the taste of an apple, a blackberry, a pomegranate, a plum, a cherry, or any other fruit: doing it after you’ve picked it yourself.
